booksALIVE Gulf Coast Community College

What a fun time today meeting and speaking with book lovers and other authors at the books Alive Festival (11th year) at Gulf Coast Community College Conference Center sponsored by Bay County Public Library. It was an honor to meet and talk with Dr. Mark Green, author of A Night With SADDAM. Mark, now employed here in Panama City at Bay County Hospital, was a special Ops flight surgeon who interviewed Saddam Hussein on the night of his capture and shares in the book information about the missions which led to his meeting Saddam. It was a pleasure to speak again with author Karen Zacharias who I met several years ago. Karen also formerly from the Columbus,Ga area is author of After the Flag Is Folded (Hero Mama), her memoir about the loss of her father in Vietnam and her family's subsequent struggle, and Where's Your Jesus Now? Examing How Fear Erodes Our Faith. There were numerous other authors, some from out of the area, and a number of "us locals." I want to thank Bettina Mead, Festival Coordinator, Vicki Patterson, and all the other Bay County Public Library that made the Festival a wonderful event for authors and all who attended. I look forward to participating in the 2011, 12th year, festival.
