Meeting with Fort Sam Houston & Fort Hood Warriors in Transition

On Sunday I arrived at San Antonio Airport and since have enjoyed spending time with a couple of my San Antonio Gold Star mom friends, Kim & Ruth, both moms of Marines KIA in Iraq.  On Monday we visited the Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Sam.  Because of Judith (far right) Fort Sams Warrior Transition and Family Center is one of the most spectacular WTB centers in the nation. And the surrounding landscape with butterfly gardens, waterfalls, and a golf green is a place of solitude and beauty.Sgt Griffin below was all smiles and humor even though he has recently had an leg amputated at the knee. We girls were provided a complete tour of the facility that included spending some time with LTC Beeks, commander of the Warrior Transition Unit.  We were provided the tour by Captain Davis who was seriously injured from burns during an attack in Mosul in 2004.  After spending 24 months at Walter Reed, and recovering from burns, there was no evidence that Captain Davis had experienced such injuries. His demeanor and attitude are incredible. Such a joy to spend time with.

My presentation of a "Benefits of Journaling" workshop Tuesday. Wonderful feedback

Nothing like walking into a Warrior Transition Day Room with a bag of "junk food" and some drinks to break the ice. "Who in here likes M & M's ?"
